Istanbul, 19 October 2021 – Today, Dutch scale-up GO Sharing is deploying 300 e-mopeds in Istanbul, Turkey. The expansion follows after the international launches in Austria and Belgium in April and Germany in May. GO Sharing’s mission is to decrease personal vehicle ownership and promote pay-as-you-go use worldwide.
This year, GO Sharing announced a capital injection of € 50 million. With the investment, GO Sharing will not only make its offering of shared vehicles multimodal by adding e-bikes and shared electric cars, the company will also pursue it’s international ambition. In the past two months, GO Sharing has started in Vienna, Antwerp, Saarbrücken, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Neuss. From today, the company’s green e-mopeds can also be found in Istanbul. GO Sharing places 300 shared e-mopeds throughout the city.
Over 10,000 shared electric vehicles
In pursuit of GO Sharing’s mission, further internationalization is a logical consequence, according to Raymon Pouwels, CEO of GO sharing: “Our motto is ‘a green planet with mobility by everyone, shared by everyone’. With GO Sharing we want to bring about the mentality shift from personal ownership to shared use, worldwide. Today, GO Sharing operates over 10,000 shared electric vehicles. Now is the time to fast forward and make people globally aware of the benefits of shared mobility. With more than 15 million inhabitants, Istanbul is one of the world’s most time-consuming cities when it comes to traffic. According to TomTom, the city is in the top 5 of cities with the most traffic congestion in the world. An exemplary city when it comes to the mobility challenge we want to solve.”
